Exhibitor Spotlight: SPIRA/flo Pipe — Redefining Material Flow for the Plastics Industry
17 October 2025
Matt DelPizzo, SPIRA/flo Pipe - Booth T1419
With over a century of engineering innovation behind them, SPIRA/flo Pipe, a Delta Ducon innovation, is revolutionizing how bulk materials move through conveying systems. At this year’s Plastics World Expos North America, Matt DelPizzo shares how SPIRA/flo’s patented pipe design is transforming the way plastics processors tackle efficiency, sustainability, and product quality.
What makes SPIRA/flo stand out from the competition?
“At SPIRA/flo, we stand apart due to our deep-rooted legacy of innovation in bulk material handling,” says Matt DelPizzo. “As a Delta Ducon innovation, we’ve tackled some of the most challenging conveying issues across various industries for over a century.”
“What truly sets us apart in the plastics sector is our flagship product, SPIRA/flo® Pipe,” he continues. “Unlike traditional smooth-wall or cut-groove pipes, SPIRA/flo® features a patented, internally pressed groove design that fundamentally changes the dynamics of material flow. This unique approach doesn’t just manage the problem of angel hair and fines—it actively prevents their formation, improving product quality and reducing operational downtime.”
Visitors should stop by Booth T1419 to see how this proven innovation can revolutionize their conveying lines — and improve their bottom line.
What’s next for SPIRA/flo? Any new innovations on the horizon?
“We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” says Matt. “We're actively testing new pipe compositions and gauge thicknesses to expand our product’s durability and application range. The next big thing we're thrilled to announce is the SPIRA/flo® Test Loop. This will allow our partners to conduct real-world testing with their specific materials, providing data on how SPIRA/flo® Pipe will perform for their unique applications. This hands-on, data-driven approach will remove any guesswork and help our clients achieve optimal results.”
What’s the biggest challenge facing the plastics industry today—and how is SPIRA/flo addressing it?
“The biggest challenge in the plastics industry today is the increasing pressure for sustainability, which is directly tied to material quality and waste reduction,” Matt explains. “Fragmented pellets, angel hair, and dusting aren’t just an operational nuisance—they represent wasted material and degraded product, with significant environmental and economic impact.”
“At Delta Ducon, we're tackling this head-on with SPIRA/flo® Pipe. By preventing the creation of fines and angel hair, our solution directly contributes to a more sustainable process. It maximizes material yield, reduces waste, and minimizes the energy and resources spent on maintenance and cleaning—helping our clients achieve their sustainability goals.”
Looking 10 years ahead, how do you see the industry evolving?
“In the next 10 years, I believe the industry will be defined by three key trends: a radical focus on material integrity, the rise of intelligent systems, and a universal push for zero-waste operations,” says Matt. “Businesses should prepare by investing in technologies that don’t just move material, but also preserve its quality throughout the entire process. That means moving beyond standard components and embracing innovations like our SPIRA/flo® internally grooved pipe.”
He continues, “I also foresee the further integration of AI-based analytics and sensor-driven controls that provide real-time data on material flow and quality, allowing for predictive maintenance and even greater efficiency. Ultimately, the successful businesses of the future will be those that prioritize a clean, efficient, and waste-free material handling system from day one.”
What are you most excited about at this year’s expo?
“What excites us most is the opportunity to connect and collaborate,” Matt shares. “This expo is a fantastic platform for us to engage with industry leaders, engineers, and decision-makers who are all looking to solve real-world problems. We're here to listen to their unique challenges with angel hair, dusting, and build-up—and we’re confident that our conversation can lead to a solution.”
He adds, “We believe that by establishing a dialogue, we can demonstrate how SPIRA/flo® Pipe can not only stop these issues but also enhance the quality and efficiency of their entire operation. We're ready to show you how a century of expertise has culminated in a proven innovation for the plastics industry.”
